Rosvi Casteel earned an A.S. degrees in Nursing in Guam and spent most of her working life in this rewarding profession. She has also been training in her art since she was a teenager in Los Angeles. She studied in California, Puerto Rico, Denver, Guam, Washington State and Indiana. Having worked in oil and other media, she became a professional artist while on the island of Puerto Rico, where she specialized in sea scapes.
Since moving to Oregon she has devoted herself to her watercolors and expanded into mountains and other natural landscapes. She has continued her studies with many other professionals and has recently began to seriously display and sell her work.
Rosvi's philosophy is very simple. "I paint because I can't stop. I don't know exactly when I became obsessed with watercolor painting, but it was after I moved to the remote, back country, "Outback" of Oregon. It certainly caught me when I wasn't paying attention and changed my life. I no longer look at the world without seeing common things in a special way. The subjects I paint are recognizable but certainly not painted in a photographic manner. The design of my "painted shapes" are more important than painting realistic details. Many times I paint people. My work has been described as abstract but intimate..................I hope you agree."
