The Grand Opening and Open House was a huge success. The Inner Court Family Center actually opened back in July, before the building and its offices were completed. This event marked the full operation and the completion of the first stage in its development. It is important to note that ALL local workers at ICFC are non-paid volunteers. The Director, Ronne Lindsay is paid, but by a two-year grant received from the Fred Myers Foundation, not by any local funds. The Nurse is NOT paid. The various staff members and receptionists are NOT paid. This building was donated by Lake County. The land was donated on a long-term lease. The construction of the building and landscaping was done by volunteers. The furniture and equipment was donated from several agencies and individuals. The medical supplies were donated by Saint Charles Hospital in Bend and by local individuals. A volunteer Board of Directors from various positions oversee the entire facility and programs. This is truly a volunteer project. How do they survive? After all, electricity, water, sewer, telephone, and supplies are NOT free! It is done by donations, by providing services and by renting offices. For example having your blood pressure taken is absolutely free. If you would like to drop fifty cents in the donation box, it would be appreciated, but certainly NOT required. If you have a fish hook removed from your body (as one resident did,) a donation would be appreciated, but again, NOT required.
