Favorable weather
conditions and wind provided a window of opportunity for crews to make headway
on building line to contain the fires in the Toolbox Complex yesterday. Winds
were mostly from the north, allowing firefighters to successfully burn out
fuels that would potentially threaten the line on the northeast corner of the
Complex. This was the same area where a Region 6 contract crew deployed their
fire shelters Wednesday. An investigative team from the region will arrive
today. Crews on other areas of the fire made good progress on completing and
reinforcing line.
There was little movement on
the Lava Fire today, which is being monitored. That fire is located about 14
miles north of Christmas Valley, and is burning in a remote lava field.
