Crews were
successful in getting a line around the fires yesterday, but additional work
needs to take place before the fire will be declared
contained. The winds increased as predicted yesterday afternoon, but fire crews
were able to contain the spot fires that occurred as a result of the winds, especially
on the west side of the Silver Fire. Crews on the northeast side of the
complex burned out sections of the line south along the south side of

mopping up hot spots within 600 feet of the line and will begin the
rehabilitation of damage that took place due to the suppression effort. This includes the restoration of
roads, fences and firelines.
The Lava Fire is being monitored. Fire had begun to creep into some
vegetation that managers want to keep it out of, so late yesterday some water
drops were done on a section to cool it down.
