Crews were successful in getting a line around the fires yesterday, but additional work needs to take place before the fire will be declared contained. The winds increased as predicted yesterday afternoon, but fire crews were able to contain the spot fires that occurred as a result of the winds, especially on the west side of the Silver Fire.  Crews on the northeast side of the complex burned out sections of the line south along the south side of Silver Lake. The line there is now 600 feet deep and should hold if the fire moves north again. Some additional firing may take place in the same area today, if needed.

Crews are mopping up hot spots within 600 feet of the line and will begin the rehabilitation of damage that took place due to the suppression effort. This includes the restoration of roads, fences and firelines.

The Lava Fire is being monitored. Fire had begun to creep into some vegetation that managers want to keep it out of, so late yesterday some water drops were done on a section to cool it down.
