Crews continue to make
progress on mopping up hot spots within 600’ of the fireline. There was some
interior burning in both fires, but helicopters worked to cool those areas
down. A small burnout operation was done yesterday to tie in the line on the
Toolbox Complex’s northeastern flank. Some crews and engines are being
demobilized, as they have worked their 14-day shift, but other resources have
arrived to replace them.
A safety stand-down will
take place on the fire between 11:00-11:30 a.m. today. It will begin with a
moment of silence to remember those who have given their lives in the line of
duty this fire season. From all safety zones incident personnel will take 30
minutes to review the 10 standard orders, the 18 watchout situations, LCES and
the specific hazards in each working area.
There are airspace
restrictions over the Toolbox and Winter Fires due to the large number of
firefighting aircraft in the area.
Pilots should avoid areas where there is smoke and the terrain is
charred.
