How to find Paisley...

Take your favorite route to Bend. Travel south on Highway 97 through LaPine to the junction of Highway 31. Pass Silver Lake, over Picture Rock Pass and around the shores of Summer Lake. The Chewaucan River winds through the town of Paisley which commands a view of the impressive Coglin Rims.

If you are passing through Klamath Falls, take 140 to Lakeview, Oregon. Turn left at the (only) stop light on Hwy 31. Go through Valley Falls (an intersection, gas station and store) and continue on Hwy 31 to the next flashing light. That is Paisley! From Lakeview it is about 45 miles on a good, two-lane road.

Nearby Points of interest:
Some of the panoramic geological features that inspired Capt. John C. Fremont in 1843, continue to impress visitors today

FREMONT POINT: From this vantage point contemporary explorers can imagine Fremont's reaction when he looked down on Summer Lake. The view is spectacular and well worth the drive up to the point, located above Paisley in the Fremont National Forest.

ABERT RIM: At 2,000 feet high and more than 30 miles long, Abert Rim is the highest exposed escarpment in North America. It is a favorite launching point for hang gliders, who frequently may be seen flying around the area.

HART MOUNTAIN NATIONAL ANTELOPE REFUGE: In 1866-1867, camp Warner was established here to provide settlers with protection from the Indians. In 1936 Hart Mountain was used as a sanctuary to remnant antelope herds. The Civilian Conservation Corps in 1938 built a stone building which now serves as the refuge headquarters. Camping and enclosed hot springs are available year-round.
